The purpose of most art forms is to develop an underlying intention which carries certain meaning, and connect with, human emotion. In simple words art is an exploration of the human condition, or a product of the human experience. Art has various forms and is divided into various sub-categories that lead to, decorative, therapeutic, communicative, utilitarian and intellectual ends.

The close integration of function with form is the distinguishing feature which provides special place to art in the Arab world from that of the Western tradition. In simple words, most Arab art has evolved with a purpose and that purpose could be as practical as embellishing the prow of a boat with a cowrie shell to ward off ‘evil eye’ or as nebulous as creating intricate and beautiful patterns to suggest the presence of God and invite spiritual contemplation. The reason behind the art or the purpose of it is an element that threads through all Gulf art, craft, music, architecture and poetry.


Her Excellency Elizabeth Kelly, states that “The Art in UAE is a vibrant one, it is the manifestation of the need to re-construct a story and identity for the region. The UAE has proved itself vivacious by providing arts and culture a holistic approach and has formed an ecosystem that creates bridges between East and West.” Ms. Kelly emphasizes that, “The future of the arts is in good hands, and is now “elevated” due to projects like Group Art Exhibition (Peace and Love) and it will be exciting to see how the art, (which is a form of communication that expresses feelings, thoughts and observations does not aim to please the audience but instead evokes feelings, reactions, conversations, or questions from the viewer), will develop in the coming years, and hope that more young people a part of it.
